This is an aerial photo of where we lived in Arizona. Our house was the place under the red arrow. We would ride our horses up the ridgeline of the mountain on the left. There was a trail running on the far side of the ridge that runs toward the upper center of the photo. Se would ride to where it came down and from there either go up into the mountains east (left in the photo) or right to the west and down into the canyons.

I'll bet you could go there and dig up some sixgun bullets you shot a long time ago within a few minutes. I read an article once about a guy that went to where Elmer and his wife set up housekeeping back in the 1920's or 30's and used a metal detector and found some 358429 slugs in the ground near the old house seat. That would be a souvenir for sure.

I’m thinking that was Brian Pearce….

….and the property was in Durkee, Oregon. My memory sort of falters after that, but I dimly recall him mentioning finding balloon head brass (.45 Colt? .44 Special? Quien sabe?).

I’ve driven by there more than once, but never had the gumption to search out the exact spot and kick the dirt around. It is fairly desolate but well within reach of Highway 84. Not as though you would need to rustle up a mule and a couple of water bags.

There is a slight possibility I might end up that way again in the next year or two, maybe I need to grow a pair and take a look-see.
