Cool video. Cachitú can be vicious little critters, don't think I'd enjoy stirring them up that much, not without a bit more elevation to keep above them when they arrive!

Way back.....

In the height of the J.D.J.- S.S.K. - H.H.I. Sixgunner days, contributors often wrote of the special and much coveted H.A.M. (? handgun-archery-muzzleloader ?) permit or tag(s).

One day at the japanese automotive manufactory, an obvious westerner....by that I mean you can usually spot a l.d.s. mormoner, after just a few minutes of conversation saw me reading a handgun hunting article and we found common ground with that subject. He was from mesa and in time several of his new acquaintances went out to the desert with him during a holiday shutdown. Before they left, I asked if the had their "ham" tags and they thought that was funny.

When we all mustered back to work, the arizonian was absent and the boys who had went hunting with him were strangely quiet. Seems that they all went hunting without any sort of nonresident licensing and were caught with dead peccary's. They had had to sign their own bonds with the promise to return to court dates. The arizonian they remanded for the misdeed of acting as a hunting guide without the expected bonefides.

There are life lessens therein. Many is the time I have been invited hunting and never questioned the inviter's right to hunt those properties. On one hunt, I had to ask for a raincheck as they say.....our youngest child was sick. The guy who sat on stand in my absence shot a trophy buck and then at the shot all hell broke loose. The inviter had once a one time permission to hunt there but thought it universal and nonexpiring. We hunted there for nigh-on a decade and had no clue we were trespassing.

Anyhow, pardon the digression. Cool video and thanks for all of your own peccary articles and posts

I took out-of-state people hunting ...

but I always made sure they had the proper tags and license.

Some of them I met through JD's Sixgunner ... I swapped a Javelina hunt for some guys from California and got them each a pig. In turn they took 3 of us from Arizona on a hog hunt in California. Didn't get one but had a great time and saw pigs. Just never where I could get a shot.
